Business Park Competitive Analysis
The Challenge
A Chinese local government bureau wanted to develop a comprehensive business development plan for their city’s business park to attract more outsourcing enterprises. The challenge involved conducting extensive on-site primary research in order to understand competitors’ business models and in analyzing a large number of factors such as services, park infrastructure, cost, and access to talent.
Our Approach
SmithStreetSolutions’ primary research and China market expertise allowed us to create a research framework and provide the client with insights into how to improve their business development. We began by conducting research to understand the structure of China’s outsourcing industry and emerging business park industry. Based upon this research, we identified key factors affecting business park development, and ranked potential competitors using a number of metrics. After identifying our client’s key competitors from this analysis, we arranged site visits to each competing park to learn detailed information about their business models. We also interviewed officials at our client’s park to understand and assess their business plan. Following our research, our analysts compiled the findings to provide the client with recommendations on how to improve their business development strategy.
Our Solution
We enabled the client to refine its business development and sales strategy by recommending concrete actions it could take to improve its positioning, targeted clients, and marketing material design.
