SmithStreetSolutions takes into great consideration our impact on the community, environment, and its customers. The commitment to improve our surrounding community and have a lasting impact on improving our society is an essential element in our sustainable business strategy. We understand that operating a sustainable business is a journey, rather than a destination, and are dedicated to continuous improvement.
Our social responsibility incorporates three dimensions: acting as a bridge between China and the world, helping our community, and protecting the environment.
As an international company located in China, we are in a unique position to help improve business and cultural ties between China and the rest of the world. By bringing foreign best practices to China, and allowing companies abroad to access China’s vast talent, resources and markets, we seek to aid in China’s development and integration into the world economy. This concept has manifested itself through our support for the China Institute, and our sponsorship of the 2009 Fifth China Institute Executive Summit which sought to find ways for the United States and China to find avenues for cooperation during the financial crisis.
We have a strong sense of responsibility to our community. Expo 2010 Shanghai China is an important opportunity for Shanghai to showcase its development and show its best face to an international audience. We have cooperated with the Shanghai government to help prepare for the Expo, utilizing our multicultural and translation expertise to improve public English translations throughout the city. We are proud of the part we have played in allowing Shanghai to achieve a “Better City, Better Life.”
The third tenet of our social responsibility, protecting the environment, has been realized through our partnership with the Joint US-China Cooperation for Clean Energy (JUCCCE). Their goal of affecting energy cooperation between the US and China to combat climate change speaks to our company’s core beliefs. We have been proactive in providing critical support to JUCCCE’s operations, including data collection, marketing material design, contact management, and managing the volunteers that are the lifeblood of the organization.
