China's largest biogas CDM project runs smoothly

China's largest biogas project, the 20,000 cubic meter Minhe biogas project in Shandong, has recently been successfully connected to the grid.

This is the first Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project which has been registered in Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board, United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change, and it will have an the annual revenue RMB 6.3 million.

China, now deemed by some scientists the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, is currently the biggest beneficiary of the CDM as it is home to more than a third of the 1,900 projects registered with the UN. More than 60 percent of the world's carbon credits, or so-called "certified emission reductions" (CERs), are granted by China.

China becomes world's biggest energy producer

China has become world's largest energy producer thanks to its expanding capacity to supply energy in the six decades since the foundation of the People's Republic, it said Friday. China produces the largest amount of hydroelectric energy and has the largest solar energy collector area in the world.

When all nuclear power plants currently under construction are completed, China will take over the No. 1 spot in the world in that field as well, the NDRC predicted.

Duke Energy says to develop tech with Chinese firms

Duke Energy Corp (DUK.N), the third-largest U.S. electricity utility, has signed agreements with several Chinese companies to develop energy technology, including solar power, Chief Executive Jim Rogers said on Friday. Duke’s vision is to develop relationships with lots of the leading Chinese energy companies. Last month Duke signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s biggest utility, China Huanneng Group.
