SmithStreet CEO Receives the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Outstanding Entrepreneur Award
January 2010, Shanghai – SmithStreetSolutions CEO Franklin Yao was awarded as an Outstanding Entrepreneur by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government at a ceremony held on January 30th.
The ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur’ award recognizes overseas Chinese who have returned to China and made significant contributions to China’s development. By calling attention to the importance of these contributions, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office seeks to drive increased investment and business activity by returnees.
Yao was moved by the award and expressed his appreciation: “As an overseas Chinese, my roots are in China and it has always been close to my heart. I believe that overseas Chinese are in a unique position to act as a bridge between China and the world, and this was a primary reason why I returned to Shanghai to found SmithStreetSolutions. Being recognized by the Shanghai Government for my contribution to China has a very special meaning to me.”
